Made-to-measure Indian couture from abroad: video consultations, fittings and timelines

How to commission bridal or occasion wear from outside India: video consultations, measuring at home, fittings, shipping and what to plan.

Many of our clients live far from India: in London, Dubai, Toronto, Singapore, Sydney or New York. Commissioning couture from abroad is entirely possible, and with some planning it is a pleasure.

Begin with a video consultation

A consultation on video works much as a visit to the House does. A stylist walks you through the occasion, the silhouette and the fabric. We bring cloth, thread samples and the work in progress to the camera. Choose a window in your own time zone when you book.

Measuring from home

Garments are cut to your measurements, so there is no size to guess. We guide you step by step, with a soft tape, and we review every number with you on a call. A friend or family member can help with back and shoulder measurements. Where useful, we ask for a few photographs. The questions page answers what clients ask most.

Fittings

A sample fitting checks the line and proportion on a toile or the piece in progress. A final fitting settles length, balance and comfort. For clients abroad, fittings can happen on video, or you can plan a visit to India to coincide with them. For heavily embroidered pieces, a third check may be added.

Timelines

Lead times depend on the piece, and they are confirmed at your consultation. A good rule is to begin early. For a wedding, plan well ahead of the date, and allow time for fittings and for shipping. If the date is fixed, tell us at the first conversation and we will plan backwards from it.

Shipping, duties and taxes

We deliver worldwide. Shipping charges and lead times are confirmed at launch. Duties and taxes may apply in your country, and we explain what we know about your destination before you confirm. See the worldwide page.

Coordinate the whole party

If you are dressing a couple, a family or a wedding party, we can design the looks together so that colours and embroidery sit well side by side. Zarvenya is our bridal line, with bridal lehengas and groom sherwanis designed together.

What to prepare

  1. The date and location of each ceremony.
  2. A sense of colour and silhouette, with any references you love.
  3. Your time zone and the best way to reach you: WhatsApp, call or email.
  4. Any dates when you will be in India.

When you are ready, book a consultation or register as a private client for first access to the collection.
