What does Ozravé mean? Ojas, ravi and the radiance within

The meaning of the name Ozravé, how to pronounce it, and why a Sanskrit idea of inner light sits behind an Indian couture house.

Ozravé is pronounced oz-RAH-vay. The stress falls on the middle syllable, and the final letter carries an accent. The name is short, but it holds a whole idea.

Two Sanskrit words

Ozravé is born from two ancient Sanskrit words. The first is ojas (ओजस्). In Indian thought, ojas is the inner radiance that gives a person their glow: vitality, clarity, a kind of settled strength that shows in how someone carries themselves.

The second is ravi (रवि), the sun. It is the oldest image of light there is, and the source that everything else borrows from.

Together they speak of a light that comes from within. That is the meaning of the name: the radiance within.

Why the accent

We finished the name with an accent as a couture finish, a nod to the world's great fashion houses. Indian craftsmanship belongs on that same stage. The accent is not a claim of origin. Ozravé is an Indian house, and every piece begins with Indian technique: zari, chikankari, gota patti, aari and more.

What it means for the clothes

A name is a promise. Ours is that clothing should reveal the person, not cover them. Ozravé is not about dressing to be seen. It is about wearing what reveals your own radiance.

That shapes how we work. We design for fit before ornament. Embroidery is placed where it will be noticed up close, not shouted from across a room. Colour is chosen to sit well on skin and in light. Each garment is cut to the wearer after a consultation and fittings, so that the piece disappears into the person.

How to write it

In text, write Ozravé with the accent. In addresses, handles and file names we use the plain form, ozrave, for example @ozrave on social media and ozrave.com on the web. Search engines and assistants treat both as the same name.
